Newburgh v Thornton Hibs - as per Thornton Hibs website
Match report on Thornton Hibs website
In their first two games, Thornton had squandered two goal leads but in this one it was their turn to produce a comeback.
The only goal of the first-half came five minutes before the interval when Euan Henderson rose at the back post to head home.
Seven minutes later, Scott Finlay doubled 'Burgh’s lead as he latched onto Mike Wilson's mishit clearance 30 yards out and his shot found the net to give the Hibs a job on their hands if they were to take something from the game.
Instead of letting their heads go down, this goal appeared to kick-start the visitors into action and they pulled one back in the 58th minute. Coco Mullen did well on the right before sending in a low cross. The ball found Andy Adam who turned his man before shooting beyond Martyn Melia.
Another good move up the right ten minutes later, ended with Chris Mill cleverly flicking the ball into the path of Adam Drummond. The Hibs' defender's shot from 20 yards took a deflection off a Newburgh player and flew high into Melia’s goal.

There were no more goals although Thornton came close with headers from Gary Thomson and Graeme Walker and only Newburgh substitute, Adrian Lawrie, will know how he failed to hit the target from close range.
YM Hit back to stun "Burgh" - Fife Herald 27/08/10
Report as per the Fife Herald 27/08/2010
Newburgh...................2
Kirkcaldy YM ...........4
In a classic game of two halves, Newburgh went into a deserved twogoal lead before succumbing to a resurgent Kirkcaldy side in the second half
Newburgh took the lead shortly before half time through a Scott Finlay goal lashed in from a tight angle on the right of the penalty area. Finlay put Burgh two ahead early in the second half.
However what had been a well organised Newburgh side that made good use of the offside trap in the first half, had no answer to Kirkcaldys for goalsecond half blitz, including three headed goals and a penalty.
